Cristina Puig anchors the 5, 6 and 11 pm newscasts for WRMD Telemundo 49 in Tampa, Florida. Prior to moving to the Tampa Bay area, Cristina worked in the Miami market as a producer/reporter for the news division of Telemundo Network. During her years in South Florida she also worked as a correspondent for CNN en Español covering national and international headlines such as the trial of Panama’s Manuel Noriega and Hurricane Ike in Galveston, Texas. Cristina also reported for Univision Network where she contributed to coverage of the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota. Cristina’s prior experience includes reporting for WFOR, the CBS affiliate in Miami, and WPBF, an ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach. Previously, she was a Chicago-based freelance correspondent for Univision. Cristina began her career in 1985 as a general assignment reporter at WLTV 23, Univision’s flagship station in Miami after graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
